Important Flood Alert – Brisbane – 27 February 2022

Tenants and owners are advised that Brisbane City Council has issued a warning that possible releases from Wivenhoe Dam may coincide with tomorrow morning’s high tide (7-8am) on Sunday 27 February 2022.

Council have advised that water may enter into properties, particularly in the 16 suburbs of Brisbane City, Bulimba, Hamilton, Milton, New Farm, Newstead, Norman Park, Oxley, Rocklea, South Brisbane, St Lucia, Teneriffe, Toowong, West End, Windsor and Yeeronga. The full alert can be read on Council’s website.

We would recommend that Tenants with belongings and vehicles in low-lying areas consider urgently moving them to higher ground, particularly if located in one of the 16 suburbs mentioned above.

Council also has free sandbag stations that are open 24 hours aday, 7 days a week from October through to March. See Council’s website for more details.

Of course, your personal safety is paramount – so please do not drive or walk through floodwaters, even to save or sandbag around valuable belongings, as floodwaters can be fatal and contain hidden electrical or other dangerous health hazards. IF IT IS FLOODED, FORGET IT!!!

Brisbane City Council has published a helpful summary for the February 2022 severe weather event, which includes phone numbers for the State Emergency Service (SES), how to log online requests for the SES and details on how to sign up for Council’s Early Warning Service.

Stay safe and please call or email us if you are experiencing flooding at your Property and we can be of any assistance.
